True Vine

Handsome husband and youngest darling daughter planted a mixed batch of wildflower seeds in the late spring.  Promising shoots emerged punctually per the package instructions.  Prematurely, torrid temperatures turned up and replenishing rain receded.

The petite plants propelled their roots down deeper into the clayey soil, successfully dowsing to enough water to sustain green stems and leaves; unpredictably, a vibrant flower would appear on the scene for its brief role, then wither and die, succeeded by a fresh blossom.

Summer heat held over long after its awaited final performance date.  Characteristically, a late-autumn-like week abruptly thrust itself on stage.  Following its lead, a riot of color exploded from the wildflower patch, its nourishing beauty exuding energy.  Since then these hardy players have performed their parts daily, despite the elements.

I marvel at the beauty and tenacity of these plants.  Inspired, I resolve to pursue the requisite resources for my growth and to commit to trusting that when the environment and the resources align, I will produce enduring, eternal, exquisite fruit that nourishes others.   Apart from God, I can do nothing.
