A Tool I Love

No this is not a repeat of an earlier post; it's just that I did purchase and receive a new iTouch that looks exactly like this one, and I am enjoying it very much.  I use it as my "third brain" when I am away from my laptop, as well as to listen to music and podcasts.  It acts as my portable calendar, contacts list and keeper of all important information.  Because I can synch it with my Outlook 2010 information, it saves me time and the frustration of overbooking myself -- that is if I rely on it instead of my memory.

So why label this one with home education?

You Make Me Come Alive!

Summer is seeping into my soul and spirit.  "This is what ya do...You make me come alive!"

I posted about my personal post-it notes passion earlier in May.  I am using a modified version of these ideas which I found here, though I've adapted it to my own needs.

Reconstruction

Some of you may have noticed some cosmetic changes to the blog lately.  I'm trying to make it easier to organize and to find related posts, as well as to change it up from time to time as far as colors, patterns and those kinds of details go.  I hope you like the changes and/or are not confused by them.  If you have suggestions or complaints or praises, please send them along.

Shattered (or Wrecked again)

I must pass along links to recent two messages by Danny Silk that shattered and encouraged me recently.  We were in attendance at Bethel Valparaiso All-Nations Church for Danny's message on May 13th, 2012.  I listened to the second message, Fierce , this morning while making pancakes, (our Wednesday morning breakfast is usually pancakes), and again while out running errands.

Projects

Summer afternoon sky

I mentioned unfinished projects recently without naming any of them.  The projects I have completed from that list are:

  1. organizing some craft supplies into a temporary holding box until I have purchased a new set of shelves and a basket or two for them,
  2. sorting out and filing 2011-12 schoolwork into each student's small storage box,
  3. acquiring approval and an ordering date for 2012-13 textbooks,
  4. putting some NEEDED library books on hold (lots of them!), and
  5. clothes changeover from fall/winter to spring/summer for our youngest two kiddos.

Other projects and/or project ideas for the summer include:
  • finishing school preparation for 2012-13
  • getting rid of unwanted cookbooks to make room on my cookbook shelf
  • cleaning up and organizing the basement
  • pondering a kitchen reorganization, including adding some shelves and possibly a small tall table
  • adding weight training to my exercise routine
  • sewing together completed quilt squares and compiling a quilt started long ago
  • knitting Christmas gifts
  • crocheting
  • reading lots of books
  • DREAMING!!!
I need to make a new page in my organizing notebook titled "projects" and pepper it with post-its!

What projects have you completed recently?  What projects are on your summer list?

Summer break begins

Scattered unfinished projects surrounding me, I cannot deny the call to post…it is my first day of summer break!

Wrecked

While out doing the weekly shopping trip, I was wrecked by the "Sermon of the Week," (S.O.W.) from 04.29.12, which you can download at:   http://www.ibethel.org/podcast/2012/05/02/one-of-those-days .  Danny Silk is an anointed communicator.

I highly advise all of you to listen and be wrecked yourself, but I will share some of my notes with you.

05 May 2012

May is here!  Our drama season is over and ended fabulously.  With only days of school left for the school year, we are all on tiptoes with anticipation for our summer break.

I feel somewhat  disoriented and disorganized, as well as very much "behind" in regard to the things which I need and want to complete.  I must discover a method for keeping it all organized better.  I have lots of tools and ideas, but so far nothing "fits."

Pinterest has offered some fabulous ideas that would feed my need to create, but which I am not certain will be useful in my situation.

If I can figure out how to use these ideas, I do want to do so; I love post-it notes.
